What is Quad 2?


Stephen Covey, author of The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, popularized the idea of a time management matrix. His four-quadrant concept (pictured at right) helps us identify the urgency and importance of all our tasks, and then make the best use of our time.

Covey advocates that most of us spend too much time on what is urgent and not enough time on what is important. Quadrant 2 activities (important and not urgent) are where Covey suggests we need to focus our time to achieve our long-term goals. These activities include relationship building, planning, and empowering your team.
